A York couple with years of banking experience is preparing to open a new commercial bank in Portsmouth, N.H., the York Weekly reported.
Pam and Daniel Morrison are launching Optima Bank & Trust Co. because they are convinced a locally-owned bank will have an edge on its competitors. Daniel Morrison told the paper that 90% of the market in southern New Hampshire is serviced by out-of-state banks.
Daniel Morrison said he expects to serve clients from New Hampshire and Maine and does not rule out opening a Maine branch in the future.
The bank’s shares are being sold through a public stock offering.
