More than 140 cannabis retailers and public health advocates in all nine of Maine’s public health districts will distribute the bags, which aim to prevent accidental access and ingestion by young people, pets and guests.

The average price per gram of adult-use cannabis has dropped each of the past five years, according to the Office of Cannabis Policy's annual report issued earlier this year.

The program will offer career-focused courses and certifications in cannabis cultivation, retail, sales, compliance and medical applications. 

The advisory followed a complaint from a patient who reported an adverse health reaction after using a cannabis concentrate purchased at the MarijuanaVille's Waterville store.

With this opening, Curaleaf expands to five retail locations in Maine, including Bangor, Ellsworth, Auburn, Wells and 161 nationwide.

Silver Cannabis Co. will open its Parsonsfield location on Jan. 16.

From proposed tax increases to new stores and product recalls, Maine's cannabis industry experienced both growth and setbacks in 2025. 

The recalled products are from strains of “Frosted Enigma” and “Gold Dust,” and pre-rolls of the strains “Blackberry Pie,” “Sour Cookies" and “Street Tartz.”

The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy issued the original recall on Oct. 27, following an investigation into a consumer complaint of an adverse health reaction.
