The Maine companies were honored across four categories: beer, chocolate, coffee and condiments. 

Rob Tod, founder of Allagash Brewing, said that tariffs will cost the Portland-based business more than $300,000 this year.

A total of 143 companies have been named to this year's list of the "Best Places to Work in Maine."

Opening day for the Bungalow, a new tap room at the Downs mixed-use development, will be Aug. 2.

Maine's largest brewer, based in Portland, will open a second taproom at 10 Market St. in the Downs mixed-use development.

In partnership with the new pro soccer team, Maine's largest brewer will concoct a special beer to be sold at Portland's Fitzpatrick Stadium during matches.

The list includes employers that have consistently made the cut each year, as well as some newcomers. In total, 134 Maine businesses and organizations are 'best' in 2024. Their rankings will be announced in October.
