Bangor International Airport

Mainers wanting to get away this winter will have another option, with Breeze Airways adding another nonstop flight option from Portland to Florida. Bangor will also have seasonal flights.

Tempshield, a Trenton-based maker of cryogenic gloves and other protective gear, is among the winners of the Maine International Trade Center's 2024 International Trade and Investment Awards.

The budget airline, which already serves Portland International Jetport, will make Bangor a second Maine destination beginning in October.

Two major projects will get underway in April: a complete rehab of the airport runway, and construction that will connect the domestic and international terminals.

Flooded roads, high winds and rain caused disruptions throughout Maine, as winter storm Elliott barreled up the East Coast.

Ahead of the long holiday weekend, Mainebiz touched base with with the heads of Maine's two biggest airports a steer on expected travel volumes.

The renovations call for the construction of a connector between two terminal buildings, upgrades to the HVAC system and other improvements.

Funding recipients include Bangor International Airport, which will receive $300,000 for runway rehabilitation.

The funding, the most recent allotment from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program, will pay for improvements such as runway reconstruction and plane guidance systems.
