So far about 30 teams have signed up so far for the Aug. 28 event, which will benefit the MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital.

The amount raised in 2024 marks a new milestone for the annual campaign, bringing the total to $14.9 million raised since 1990.

Once fully operational, MaineHealth EMS expects to handle more than 29,000 transports annually.

Since it was founded in 1994, the annual Swish-Out Childhood Cancer Challenge has raised $750,000 for the Maine Children's Cancer Program at the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital in Portland.

Athletes, actors and TV personalities will vie for a $250,000 prize purse at the Drive for Kids Celebrity Golf Invitational next June in Falmouth, helping raise funds for the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

The second annual event, scheduled for June 20-23 at the Falmouth Country Club, will feature a bigger lineup of famous players.

The Dunkin' Joy in Childhood Foundation recently awarded $49,000 to three Maine hospitals, while Bar Harbor Bank & Trust gave $1,000 to the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center in Ellsworth.
