Central Maine Medical Center

Problems are being addressed by individual hospitals and hospital systems trying to figure out how to provide the right amount of services and preserve access to care without going broke.

The deal, announced earlier this year, would give a nonprofit acquirer sole ownership of all Central Maine Healthcare services and facilities, including Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Without Lewiston's Central Maine Medical Center, Maine will have two remaining trauma centers, in Portland and Bangor.
