Out of over 500 companies nominated for this year’s Maine Family Business Awards, 25 across the state are in the running for the annual honors.

Winners in seven categories were selected from a record 500-plus nominations, which were whittled down to 35 semifinalists and then 26 finalists to keep the suspense going until Wednesday's ceremony in Freeport.

The Institute for Family-Owned Business will announce the winners at an Oct. 18 event featuring Chase Morrill, Ashley Morrill and Ryan Eldridge of “Maine Cabin Masters” fame as the keynote speakers. 

Nominations for the Institute for Family-Owned Business awards are due June 30 and will honor enterprises that go the extra mile.
