The Augusta event has made a significant economic impact on the region over the past three years, and brought nearly $12 million to the local economy.

Pickle’s Potions and Lotions, which has a flagship store at 130 Main St. in Winthrop, will open a second location at 36 Main St. in Waterville.

No ribbon is safe this week in downtowns along the Kennebec River as businesses in Augusta, Hallowell and Waterville hold ceremonial openings, including Wrapped Up Coffee, on Water Street in Augusta.

When it became clear in April that the Kennebec River Brewfest, the chamber's biggest fundraiser, would not happen in August as planned, the chamber came up with Brewfest in a Box. It sold out in three hours Wednesday.
