The latest federal funding freezes $11 billion nationally and $91 million in Maine, affecting both research and a wide range of on-the-ground services.

As of Tuesday afternoon, 85 cases, including an 18-case outbreak at the York County municipal complex and six at a Madison nursing home, have been linked to the Aug. 7 wedding.
The agency is investigating outbreaks at American Roots and Corsetti's restaurant, both in Westbrook, and at a Goodwill warehouse in Gorham, as well as a pending outbreak at the Cumberland County Jail in Portland.
The state has awarded grants to 96 cities and towns that will reimburse the cost of COVID-19 education, prevention and public health enforcement, particularly as summer visitors begin to arrive.
