A collaboration between Maine employers, educators and nonprofit leaders has set a goal of assisting 70% of working age residents in achieving postsecondary credentials by the year 2035.
A report released by the Maine State Chamber of Commerce and Maine Community Foundation calls for a more predictable, efficient and transparent regulatory environment.
Funds will be used to rehabilitate the Old Hancock County Sheriff’s Home and Jail, a 19th-century building listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Projects in four downtowns include distinct building types: a former federal courthouse and post office, a theater, a downtown commercial building and former jail.Â
It’s expected the marketing will attract tourists and help keep most of the proceeds in the community, with a focus on boosting restaurants, stores and events.
