The new funding, along with two other grants, will help fund a haul road between the IMT and neighboring Merrill's Marine Terminal, as well as new capacity for handling intermodal transport.
John Henshaw, who directed the Maine Port Authority for a decade, was credited with overseeing the redevelopment of a derelict port terminal in Portland. Henshaw also led the effort, still in progress, to build a new cold storage facility there.
