Maine Sports Commission

The Maine Sports Commission estimated the 2023 MDI Marathon generated over $2.1 million for the local economy and the Millinocket Marathon’s 2015 through 2021 editions generated a total of $2.8 million for the Katahdin region.

Linsey MacDougal will replace the outgoing chair, Russell Walters, who has held the position for 13 years. Walters will maintain a seat on the board of directors.

The Augusta event has made a significant economic impact on the region over the past three years, and brought nearly $12 million to the local economy.

Amanda Royce, a New Hampshire native, joins the Maine Sports Commission from the New England Mountain Bike Association.
