Mr. Tuna

Bar Futo, a Japanese-inspired restaurant at 425 Exchange St., and Low Stakes Lodge, at 106 Exchange St., have announced plans to close later this fall.

Mr. Tuna is among the 10 Maine semifinalists across various categories in the prestigious James Beard 2025 Restaurant and Chef Awards.

Mr. Tuna, a Portland sushi vendor with food-cart roots, has officially opened the doors at its relocated brick-and-mortar business. 

The intimate 28-seat restaurant features a bar, standard table seating and a bonus outdoor space that has a spectacular view of downtown.

While still grappling with industry-wide staffing and supply-chain shortages, Portland’s restaurants are on the rebound. There has been a host of new investments in Maine's largest city, which is home to more than 500 licensed eating and drinking establishments.
