Office of Cannabis Policy data show sales of adult-use marijuana totaled $18 million in February, a gain of 28% from a year ago. But Maine retailers are making less money on the recreational cannabis they ring up.

From January through July, Maine cannabis retailers have rung up sales of $118.3 million, positioning 2023's total to exceed sales in 2022.

John Hudak, considered a leading expert on state, national and international cannabis policy, will lead Maine's Office of Cannabis Policy starting Dec. 30.
