Penobscot Community Health Care is launching a $1 million fundraising campaign to help meet the need for oral care in the Belfast region by creating a new dental center, targeted to open in April 2026.

The federal funding includes a $69,800 grant for Fish River Rural Health in Aroostook County, and $450,900 for Belfast’s Penobscot Community Health Center in the heart of Waldo County.
The money was specifically awarded to health centers serving communities disproportionately affected by COVID-19. Funds will go to COVID-19-related capital needs, including telehealth, mobile medical vans and freezers to store vaccines.
Bangor-based PCHC will move the Seaport Community Health Center to the five-building campus built by MBNA in 1997, doubling the size of the clinic and adding to services available, and will work with the community on how best to use the rest of the site.
