Casco-based Hancock Lumber has broken ground on a 44,000-square foot manufacturing facility in Oxford, which will enable the company to significantly expand production of prefabricated building components.

Construction on the project began in October 2025. The first residents will move in when the first phase is completed in early 2027 and the entire build is anticipated to be finished by the start of 2028.

Developers Collaborative is on target to complete its 54-unit affordable housing complex for seniors at 25 Casco St. by June.

Construction has begun on the Lambert Woods North apartments at 2274 Washington Ave. Extension in Portland, phase one of a large affordable housing development that will eventually include 162 apartments.

The $87.8 million affordable housing development will replace a surface parking lot on the corner of Elm and Oxford streets. It's a joint project between Avesta Housing and Reveler Development.

Avesta Housing is developing one of the largest housing projects Lewiston has seen in many years, in the heart of the downtown, across from City Hall and on the site of the former DeWitt House hotel.

The housing squeeze has resulted in roughly half of workers in both cities commuting close to two hours daily from their homes in more rural areas.

The general contractor was Penobscot General Contractors in Falmouth. The design came from Archetype Architects in Portland.

The project will provide flexible new work stations, including collaboration areas, and is targeted for completion in early 2027.
