After more than 25 years at Maine's largest law firm and more than four years at the helm, Joan Fortin will leave the post of CEO. She will remain through the end of 2024, the firm announced Wednesday.

The author, philanthropist and ex-wife of Jeff Bezos continues to make charitable donations in a pledge to give away at least half of her fortune, currently estimated at $40 billion.

Pine Tree Legal Assistance will use its grant from a national nonprofit to recruit pro bono attorneys to improve housing stability for Mainers in need.

The funding will provide training to law enforcement agencies, service providers and communities to better understand human trafficking, U.S. protections, and the resources that are available for trafficked victims/survivors.
