The Portland law firm names Michael S. Smith managing partner, effective July 15. He succeeds David Van Slyke, who will resume his role as chair of Preti’s environmental practice group. 

The makeover involved three floors and 41,000 square feet of office space at One City Center. Additions include new workstations and an internal staircase.
