A housing project anticipated to be an important economic driver for the rural Oxford county town of Rumford has been stalled with the recent cancellation by Sunday River Resort of an arrangement to lease apartments expressly developed for its employees.
Sunday River Resort has over the past few years been increasingly enticing visitors to come play on the mountain year-round, with a host of popular events.
The lease provides space to consolidate adaptive gear storage and maintenance and provide accessible, on-site lodging for volunteers, interns and participants year-round.
In the week since it opened, Sugarloaf’s lift-serviced downhill mountain bike park already attracted hundreds of cyclists. More trails are under construction.
