Maine Outdoor Brands is creating a student advisory board to serve as a bridge between the next generation of leaders and the state's $3.4 billion outdoor recreation industry.

Touted as a first-of-its-kind for adult learners, the degree will be offered by the University of Maine at Farmington and delivered through the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s existing online program called YourPace.

Simulation laboratories provide animatronic mannequins, virtual reality trainers and replicated hospital rooms. They also help address Maine's shortage of nurses.

The University of Maine at Farmington recently launched an initiative designed to help meet the state’s current and future needs for skilled outdoor recreation professionals.

The University of Maine at Farmington is expanding its offerings to include an online, interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree program in public policy. 

The center, for infants through early school-age and serving the community at large, is also UMF’s laboratory school for early childhood education college students. 

The pandemic exposed a dire shortage in early childhood professionals in Maine. Sweatt-Winter serves as a lab school for UMF students majoring in early childhood education or early childhood special education.

Joseph McDonnell has been named president of the school after serving as interim president for nearly two years.

The University of Maine at Farmington has been awarded a $2.2 million federal grant to develop an initiative aimed at improving students' educational outcomes. 

The agreements will help students save time and money while working toward an academic degree.
