Westbrook-based WinterKids, which promotes cold-weather activities and recreation for youngsters, hired Courtney Holub as its next executive director.

Since 2011, Julie Mulkern has grown WinterKids from 5,000 children to over 45,000 annually and from a budget of $200,000 to $1.5 million annually.

As in previous years, Carnaval Maine will feature live music, Bites and Brews and food trucks, but without snowmaking for "rail jams" or the need for shuttle buses and Narrow Gauge Railroad trains to bring visitors to the action.
