The number of prospective buyers in September continued to outpace the number of sellers, the Maine Association of Realtors reported. The number of homes for sale is still far below pre-pandemic levels, which is driving prices upward.
Cumberland County remained Maine's most expensive market in August, with a median sales price of $550,000, while Aroostook County remained the most affordable, with an MSP of $151,000.
Maine's median sales price continues to hit new levels. June marked a high, with a median sales price of $385,000 statewide, an increase of 6.45%. As recently as 2017, Maine's median sales price was $200,000, so we're pushing into new territory.Â
Fewer homes are being sold than a year ago, but there are still signs that inventory is tight and prospective buyers are having to pay more. The median sales price in Maine hit another all-time high, at $373,000, according to Maine Listings and the Maine Association of Realtors.
