Elizabeth Hayes, who led Infinity through its 2021 merger with an Illinois credit union, has begun work in a leadership role at a credit union in Massachusetts.

The merger of Infinity and Deere Employees Credit Union creates a new financial cooperative with more than 60,000 members and $1.5 billion in assets.

If the deal is approved, the combined credit union would be headquartered in Moline, Ill., which coincidentally is home to the financial cooperative that Westbrook-based Infinity considered merging with last year.

Infinity Federal Credit Union, the 18,000-member Maine banking services cooperative that had planned to merge with Vibrant Credit Union of Illinois, has walked away from the deal.

Westbrook-based Infinity Federal Credit Union will become the East Coast hub of a merged business it's forming with Vibrant Credit Union of Moline, Ill.
