Demolition crews are in place at 142 Free St., site of what is expected to be a $100 million expansion project at the Portland Museum of Art.

The museum is planning to take down the building and replace it with a temporary park until the new building can be built, but Greater Portland Landmarks is asking for a delay until all plans and fundraising are finalized.

Greater Portland Landmarks has lost it lawsuit to prohibit the Portland Museum of Art from razing the former home of the Children's Museum & Theater of Maine.
