The Central Maine Growth Council is looking to hire an a clean technology entrepreneur at Dirigo Labs, after receiving a one-year contract from the Governor's Energy Office valued at nearly $112,000.

The funding award will enable Dirigo Labs to extend its startup program by an extra month and to tweak the business accelerator's offerings.

Real estate news around Maine includes a new apartment complex in Portland's Bayside neighborhood, a home for nonprofits planned in Kittery and awards for construction firms in Fairfield and Portland. 

The funding was awarded by the Maine Office of Tourism and will support a variety of marketing initiatives.

For one grantee, the support has enabled the business to increase inventory, propel expansion, and “cultivate a welcoming community environment.” 

Nicole Timmins will oversee CMGC’s granting efforts, including managing the grant administration process, preparing financial reports and ensuring compliance with grant regulations. 

In recent years, with more than $200 million in combined investment from Colby College, investors and small businesses, with help from tax incentives, the downtown is undergoing a major transformation.
