The Portland Sea Dogs, Maine Celtics and Hearts of Pine all lease venues from the city, while the Maine Mariners are tenants of Cumberland County at the Cross Insurance Arena.

Despite a rainy start to the season for the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, better weather in July and August helped boost attendance to near capacity every night.
“We only have 69 chances to make money every year, so when we lose [the chance to play] a game it really can hurt us,” Jesse Scaglion, the team’s general manager, told Mainebiz.
