Graham Platner

Polls point to a close outcome in a race that is key to Democrats’ efforts to wrest back control of the Senate.

The Maine Democratic Party has until July 27 to choose a replacement candidate in November's general election.

With no majority winners in Maine’s Democratic and Republican gubernatorial primaries, both races are headed toward a ranked choice runoff to determine who will run in November's general election.

With Mills out of the race, Democrat Graham Platner moves into the clear frontrunner spot to face the incumbent, U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, in the Nov. 3 general election.
