The covered bridge connecting Windham to Gorham over the Presumpscot River is fully operational again. The bridge was heavily damaged last summer when an overloaded dump truck broke through the bridge deck and fell into the water below.

The Denny's in the Libbytown neighborhood may not have been historic, but it became a Portland landmark.

The contractor is Pittsfield-based Cianbro, which will follow the same alignment as the current bridge and carry five lanes of traffic.

The Maine Department of Transportation employs more than 500 plow drivers and is looking to hire 100 more for year-round maintenance work.
