As Memorial Day weekend approaches, many Mainers are preparing for the unofficial start of the summer travel season.
AAA reports the statewide average price for a gallon of regular gas is currently about $4.53, as travelers weigh fuel costs ahead of the holiday weekend.
Forecasters are also calling for mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 60s across much of Maine on May 25, creating favorable conditions for road trips, outdoor activities and visits to seasonal restaurants, retailers and hospitality businesses reopening for the summer season.
