Farmers are increasingly working with solar developers to convert agricultural acreage to power arrays. But there's a growing worry that Maine is losing critical farmland.
The array was built on a 20-acre lease of private farmland still owned by the generational farmers, who view the project as a showpiece for incorporating solar while continuing farming.
The Rockland-based broadband services company established three new fixed wireless network sites, bringing broadband access to 7,400 new households and 900 previously unserved locations.
The owners plan to sell products and produce from their farm as well as other good produced in western Maine at the store on Main Street, which was most recently a real estate office.
