The company, headquartered in Mechanic Falls, makes heat-resistant textiles — and the demand for them is only getting hotter.

Auburn Manufacturing Inc., which makes materials that offer protection from extremely high heat, has been defending its market against low-cost exports from China. “It’s like a detective story,” said CEO Kathie Leonard.

Fletcher Group at Keller Williams Realty teamed up with Tranzon Auction Properties five times this summer and fall to market properties in Mechanic Falls, Lewiston and Auburn that included 195 acres of commercial/agricultural land, an industrial building, an office building and two additional parcels of land.

The device generates renewable power from free-flowing water currents. It will join a companion device in Igiugig, Alaska, producing enough energy to decrease the community's use of diesel fuel by 90%.
