Penobscot Island Air was founded in 2004 by Kevin Waters after another airline folded. The airline is a lifeline to islands like Matinicus, transporting passengers, Amazon packages and medication.

The federal funds will mean 15 more hangars can be built to meet the demand for hangar space and complete the last major item on the airport’s master plan.

Noyes belonged to a number of business and civic organizations, including the Falmouth Lions Club, and served as a trustee of Owl’s Head Transportation Museum.

John Bottero, who was recently named executive director of the Owl's Head Transportation Museum, brings a technical and business background as well as three decades of experience in the arena of fine art and antiques.

With over 30,000 visitors per year, the museum hopes to accommodate a growing collection and to attract the interest of younger generations.
