Co-hosted by Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences and Hatch Blue, with support from the Maine Technology Institute, the event is designed to accelerate the translation of ocean research into commercial opportunities.
The center includes the latest laboratory facilities, dedicated teaching labs and classrooms and a 300-seat forum that will become a hub for community outreach and scientific collaboration.
The Edward and Gwendolyn Asplundh Horticulture and Plant Science Center will add 40,000 square feet of labs and offices along with additional greenhouses and growing spaces.
The Harold Alfond Center for Ocean Education and Innovation provides space to broaden business innovation, applied research and education programs and accommodate a growing staff.
