As part of the new Biden infrastructure program, rural communities in three Maine counties will receive $22 million to upgrade water and sewer systems.

Starting Thursday, 38 National Guard members out of 75 that have been called up will be deployed to 10 health care facilities across the state.

The state has consistently scored near the top in national evaluations of hospital quality and safety, conducted by the Leapfrog Group. Now the group is singling out Maine for its high marks.

Tom Pazdera comes to the job with 30 years of experience in the pulp, packaging and paper industry. Less than two months ago, ND Paper made a leadership change at its other Maine plant, in Old Town.

The town has issued a request for proposals for the 4.77-acre site on U.S. Route 2 that was once home to the Linnell Motel.

Bruce Hogan comes to the job with 33 years of experience and a degree from the University of Maine. He takes over as ND Paper has invested "millions" in the mill's restart, and plans further upgrades.

In his five years at the helm, Jeff Brickman has moved the state's third-largest health care system from the brink of a financial cliff to a position of strength characterized by community engagement, growth and innovative programs.
