The Green Engineering and Materials building, known as the GEM, will be home to the university’s "Factory of the Future." It will incorporate innovative digital manufacturing technologies and immersive learning spaces for students across the University of Maine System.

New degree programs aim to prepare students for careers in conservation, ecology, natural resource management and related areas. 

The University of Maine System Board of Trustees approved a Doctor of Philosophy in nursing program and a Doctor of Nursing Practice program with a concentration in family nursing practice. 

At the core of the project is a comprehensive reinvestment in the Shawn Walsh Hockey Center, delivering state-of-the-art environments that support the full spectrum of student-athlete development.

The Jim and Cathy Gero Center for Genomics and Advanced Therapies will improve access to clinical trials and advanced cancer treatments.

Planned upgrades include emote monitoring, automated processes and elimination of bacteria at a water pollution control facility.

The “cancer hospitality house” helps rural Maine cancer patients who face long-distance travel to the Bangor-Brewer area for care without an affordable place to stay.

The Bangor Region YMCA is building an 82,000-square-foot community center to replace a 45,000-square-foot facility that’s considered obsolete.

Maine is “small enough yet big enough to set the example of how health care should be delivered in rural areas,” said Northern Light Health’s CEO.

Erica Young joins the Maine utility after more than 25 years in the energy sector, with experience in operations, regulatory affairs and corporate strategy.
