Photographer Fred Field, a Mainebiz contributor, made several trips to the Piscataquis County town of Monson to see its progression as an arts community and home to a James Beard Award-winning restaurant.

The Quarry restaurant is a finalist for the "Outstanding Hospitality Presented by American Airlines," against contenders in Washington, Alabama, South Carolina and Chicago.
