Maine Laboratories, a “forever chemical” testing and analysis service in Somerset County, changed its name to PFAS Laboratories.

Market research showed there was a PFAS testing backlog, delaying turnaround by weeks. A Norridgewock lab processes samples in 10 business days, giving it early success bringing on clients.

The factory in Norridgewock will permanently close as New Balance consolidates the operations at its recently expanded facility, 6 miles away.

The donation is the second major gift by the Boston-based sports apparel company, which has three factories in Maine.

Franklin Savings Bank is a community bank founded in 1868 which serves Maine’s western, central, and Downeast regions of Maine from eight locations.
