The research center is expected to provide opportunities to develop innovative production techniques and the next generation of the wild blueberry industry.

Dredging projects in Ogunquit, Scarborough, Milbridge and Bar Harbor will receive the funding through the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act signed into law last November.

The field is vulnerable to economic ups and downs, and has been hit hard by the pandemic. Nevertheless, startup momentum in Maine’s child care sector remains strong, one microenterprise or nonprofit at a time.
