Shipyard Brewing Co. owner Fred Forsley told Mainebiz that the closure was partly the result of the town's decision to stop making payments under a TIF agreement.

The recalled products are Yani adult-use vape cartridges of the strain Watermelon Chimera, the Maine Office of Cannabis Policy said.

Lori Howell, a lawyer and co-owner of a shellfish company in Eliot, will lead the board after serving as vice chair since 2021.

The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy said the products failed tests around yeast and mold content.

The Maine marijuana industry has blossomed over the past few years, especially in Eliot, which is known for the 'Green Mile.' The area is adding a new recreational cannabis store today. 

Provisions is available at Sweet Dirt's retail stores in Portland, Waterville, Rockland and Bridgton. The brand will also be available at select adult-use cannabis retailers throughout the state.

Eliot, on the border with New Hampshire, is now home to Organic Goods Dispensary, Cannabis Cured Recreational Weed Dispensary Eliot, East Coast Cannabis-Eliot, and Sweet Dirt Medicinals Cannabis. The retail stretch has been dubbed the New Green Mile.
