Maine needs housing, and two significant projects unveiled this week

Two significant additions to Maine's housing stock opened their doors this week. In Lewiston, the nonprofit Raise-Op unveiled two buildings with a total of 18 housing units, while in Old Orchard Beach another 55 apartments came onto the market.

Old Orchard Beach motel sells outside the family for first time

Family ownership of the property dates back generations. The motel was built in 1976. The seller looked for a buyer who would appreciate the property. “We were lucky to find someone like that,” he said.

$1.5M federal grant funneled to Maine’s affordable housing crisis

The funds will be distributed to towns and cities that have seen economic impacts on affordable housing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
