Redevelopment of the 70,000-square-foot former Jagger Mill in Sanford is well underway, and by fall will add 86 units of much-needed housing to the city.
The city is replacing its aged fire stations with two new buildings, and broke ground Tuesday on the first project — the new headquarters in south Sanford. A second district station is planned to be built on Payne Street in Springvale, starting in March 2027.

The new lease at 1209 Main St. will provide more room for both group gatherings and individual meetings. The nonprofit had previously shared space in a Sanford church.
