The voluntary bankruptcy protection will allow the diner to restructure its finances while remaining open for business.

"I am doing everything that I can to keep the business open," owner Jim MacNeill told Mainebiz in a phone interview this week, adding that the diner is open and ready for the tourist season.

"I think there is deep connection to other hospitality owners…who will identify with the emotional attachment, not to just the property that they put their heart and soul into, but also the relationships they build with staff,” said the listing broker.
