A controversial proposal to build a temporary parking lot at the Jetport was rejected by the City Council, ending a two-year battle.

Pricier items include a TSA checkpoint upgrade needed to alleviate congestion and accommodate security demands.

An analysis of the spill at Brunswick Executive Airport finds the cause was not a fire as was first suspected, but a malfunction of an electric monitoring device.

The federal tax credit program for electric vehicle purchases expired Sept. 30, but individuals that qualify for an Efficiency Maine program can still take advantage of rebates.

“Since LifeFlight started providing services to Bar Harbor, we have depended on seasonal temporary landing zones,” said Bar Harbor’s fire chief. The new, year-round landing pad shortens turnaround times.

The $49.9 million project, by Reed & Reed Inc. for the Maine Department of Transportation, will entail demolishing the 88-year-old Frank J. Wood Bridge between Brunswick and Topsham and replacing it with a structure designed to last a century.

"We value our partnership with PWM and will continue to evaluate a return in the future," a spokesman for the low-cost carrier told Mainebiz.

The biggest chunk of the funding, $11.3 million, will go to the Portland International Jetport for projects including terminal expansion.

To greet the park's 4 million annual visitors, the $27.7 million Acadia Gateway Center is situated on the main thoroughfare to Mount Desert Island.
