Rosemont Market and Bakery will consolidate its bakery, food production, central office and warehouse operations in one Portland site, the company said Thursday.
The 10,000-square-foot space, at 832 Stevens Ave., had been an Aubuchon Hardware site and a bakery thrift store, among other businesses.
For Rosemont, the new space will increase efficiency, cut down on travel times to its six stores and “encourage collaboration among our bakers, cooks, produce specialists and local producer partners,” the company said.
“This project is the next natural step for Rosemont’s growth,” said Erin Lynch, Rosemont’s director of operations. “Rosemont’s products as well as our relationships with local suppliers are the soul of what we do. Our aim is to create a beautiful workspace that can accommodate and nurture our creative work as well as deepen and expand how we work with producers throughout the region.”
For now, the much of the back-end work will continue at individual stores and its warehouse, at 1350 Riverside St.
Design plans have begun and build-out will start soon. Rosemont intends to have production and supply divisions fully operational at the Stevens Avenue location by the middle of the summer.
Rosemont has three stores in Portland and one each in Cape Elizabeth, Falmouth and Yarmouth.
