Laboratory instrumentation manufacturer Fluid Imaging Technologies recently expanded its corporate headquarters in Yarmouth, growing its square feet by 35%.
The expansion was needed to accommodate the company's anticipated double-digit growth in 2012, according to a press release. Fluid Imaging relocated from its original facility in Edgecomb to Yarmouth five years ago. Most of the additional space will be used for sales, marketing, product engineering, customer support and in-house testing. It also plans to create nearly a dozen new positions in engineering, production, software development, customer service and other areas.
Fluid Imaging has had 12 years of record-breaking sales, in large part due to increased orders for its FlowCAM, a particle imaging and analysis system used by companies, universities and government agencies, including Nestle, Heinz, GlaxoSmithKline, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The FlowCAM automatically images, measures and analyzes individual particles and microorganisms.
Mainebiz named Fluid Imaging CEO Kent Peterson a 2008 Mainebiz Business Leader of the Year. In 2010, the Maine International Trade Center named the company its Exporter of the Year.
