Labor board dismisses state union complaint
The Maine Labor Relations Board has dismissed a complaint filed by the state's largest union against the LePage administration.
The Maine State Employees Association claimed the administration was hiring private contractors for jobs typically done by union members. The MLRB executive director dismissed the complaint because it failed to state a claim under the State Employees Labor Relations Act, according to a press release form the governor's office.
"MSEA is desperate to find an issue to fight Gov. LePage on, and this is another failed attempt to find one with any legal footing," Chief of Staff John McGough said in a statement. "The LePage administration is working to make government more efficient and effective."
This is the second labor complaint lodged against the governor. A trial date has not yet been set for allegations that the state did not negotiate in good faith with the union.
