Another fire reported at Kittery shipyard

A small fire broke out at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard over the weekend, the second fire at the Kittery facility in a month. The fire happened Saturday outside the USS Miami, the nuclear submarine badly damaged by a fire last month.

A shipyard worker was able to put Saturday's fire out using a fire extinguisher, according to Foster's Daily Democrat. No one was injured and the sub's nuclear reactor was never in danger. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Last month, a larger fire that started in a shop vacuum damaged the sub, which is in Kittery for repairs. Seven people, including firefighters and crew members, were injured, but none seriously. The Navy said it could cost upwards of $400 million to repair the sub.
