Maine Mall to get new department store
The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. announced today it will open a 128,000-square-foot store at the Maine Mall in late 2013.
In a press release, the Pennsylvania-based retail chain announced that Portland will be one of two locations slated for expansion in the coming year. The store sells fashion apparel, home furnishings, cosmetics and other goods.
The expansion will be the first in Maine for the retailer that currently has 272 stores nationwide. The company's other expansion will be at a regional shopping mall in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The Associated Press reported in August that the company's stock price surged after a KeyBanc ratings analyst upgraded Bon-Ton shares to "buy," citing steady revenue increases through the summer and leadership from a new CEO hired in February.
