Lewiston-based Baxter Brewing Co. has gained a foothold in the New York distribution market, just a month after securing distribution throughout all of New England.

The all-cans craft brewery, founded in 2011, announced on Monday that it has signed distribution agreements with New York City-based Union Beer Distributors and Craft Beer Guild Distributing of New York, located in the Hudson Valley region. The move means Baxter’s products will be available to retailers, restaurants and bars in those areas.

"New York is the next logical destination," Luke Livingston, Baxter’s president and founder, said in a prepared statement. "Time to overcome traditional rivalries, like red chowder or creamy, Patriots-Jets and Sox-Yankees. Time to let New Yorkers in on what we've got going in northern New England."

Livingston, who was named to the Mainebiz Next list in 2012, told Mainebiz in an email that Baxter’s sales were $3.8 million in 2014 and it brewed about 600,000 gallons. That’s projected to increase to $6.2 million and more than 1 million gallons next year, he said.
