Staples to close Presque Isle store
The Staples office supply chain is closing its Presque Isle store in February, creating another vacancy in the Aroostook Centre Mall for 2015.
The Bangor Daily News reported that the Presque Isle store is among hundreds of other Staples stores in North America that were closed or slated for closure within the last year. The Presque Isle store has about 15 employees.
Staples spokeswoman Carrie McElwee told the newspaper that the increasing popularity of online shopping was to blame for the company's decision to close the store.
Staples is the second company in the last two months to announce that it would close a store at the Aroostook Centre Mall. Sears is closing its Presque Isle mall location in January.
